    Overview

    Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) is an endogenous neuropeptide with broad effects on the cardiovascular, GI, immune, and nervous systems. It promotes vasodilation, downregulates Th1/Th17 inflammatory responses, and supports neuroprotection. Clinical and preclinical studies have explored VIP for autoimmune encephalomyelitis, colitis, pulmonary hypertension, and sarcoidosis.

    Mechanism of Action

    28-amino-acid neuropeptide of the secretin/glucagon family; binds VPAC1 and VPAC2 G-protein-coupled receptors, raising cAMP. Produces vasodilation, smooth muscle relaxation, immune modulation, and anti-inflammatory effects.
